On August 27, 2015, the City was served with a Summons and Complaint filed by Mary Helms and her Husband, George P. Helms in the Circuit Court. Ms. Helms claims to have tripped and fell on an uneven sidewalk on Broward Drive on September 10, 2011. Despite her allegations against the City, the location of Ms. Helms' alleged fall is not owned, maintained or otherwise controlled by the City. She claims to have suffered bodily injury and resulting pain and suffering, disability or physical impairment, disfigurement, mental anguish, inconvenience and loss of capacity for the enjoyment of life experienced in the past or to be experienced in the future, expense of medical care and treatment obtained in the past or to be obtained in the future, past lost earnings and loss of ability to earn money in the future.
