On March 9, 2016, the City was served with a Summons and Complaint filed by Debra Jackson in the Circuit Court against the City of Gainesville. Debra Jackson alleges that on February 4, 2013 while a passenger on a RTS bus, she was injured when the bus was put into motion before she was properly seated. Debra Jackson claims to have suffered permanent injuries within a reasonable degree of medical probability, resulting in associated pain and suffering, disability, mental anguish, loss of capacity for the enjoyment of life, expense of medical care and treatment, loss of earnings and other economic damages, loss of ability to earn money in the future, and/or aggravation of a previously existing condition.
