Title

Actively Caring 4 People (AC4P) Policing (B)

AC4P Policing hopes to further bridge the divide between the community and law enforcement.

Explanation

The Gainesville Police Department has implemented a program called AC4P, Actively Caring for People Policing.  This program was first introduced at Virginia Tech after the tragic shootings by a faculty professor.  This evidence based program was then piloted with a handful of Law Enforcement agencies in and around the State of Virginia and one in Florida.  This program has resulted in positive relationships between citizens and police and encourages citizens to recognize others as well.

Fiscal Note

No substantial cost for the program.  Any cost can be absorbed by GPD budget.

Recommendation

The City Commission hear a presentation from GPD Staff.  No further action needed
