Resolutions for Local Agency Program Agreements for NW 19th Lane Multimodal Facility and SW 27th Street Multimodal Facility (B)
This item involves Resolutions authorizing the City Manager to execute Local Agency Program (LAP) agreements between the City of Gainesville and the Florida Department of Transportation for design and construction of multimodal facilities along NW 19th Lane and along SW 27th Street.
Explanation
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) notified the City of funding availability in FY2016-2017 for the design of bicycle/pedestrian facilities along:
- NW 19th Lane connecting NW 13th Street to NW 16th Terrace. This is in response to the City’s application for funding under the Transporation Alternatives program through the Metropolitan Transportation Planning Organization (MTPO), dated September 2014; and,
- SW 27th Street/SW 40th Place/SW 25th Terrace connecting SW 35th Place to Williston Road. This is in response to City application for funding under the Transporation Alternatives program through the Metropolitan Transportation Planning Organization (MTPO), dated March 2013.
The projects are identified as priority projects in the MTPO’s List of Priority Projects and Transportation Improvement Plan. Construction of the projects advances the City Commission’s Strategic Inititatives 5.1 and 6.5 that seek to expand the multimodal network, and promote an integrated, safe and accessible transportation system.
The City of Gainesville is a FDOT Certified local agency. These resolutions allow the City to enter into agreements with FDOT to presently fund and implement projects and receive reimbursement when FDOT funding is scheduled. The City is requesting to enter into an agreement with FDOT for design and construction of the NW 19th Lane project and for the SW 27th Street project.
