This item is a request for the General Policy Committee to hear a presentation and discuss Alachua County’s Draft Stormwater Treatment Manual.

Explanation

Alachua County drafted a Stormwater Treatment Manual for potential application county-wide.  Although all stakeholders are supportive of efforts to improve water quality; City staff, other municipalities and other stakeholders are expressing concerns with the scientific basis for the standards contained within the Draft Manual which would have significant cost ramifications to both public and private entities.  In addition, City staff is concerned with the impact such standards would have on redevelopment within the City.

Recommendation

The General Policy Committee hear a presentation and discuss what action to take in response to Alachua County’s Draft Stormwater Treatment Manual.
