Resolution Extending the Citizen Committee for Implementing the Strategic Framework (B)
This item requests adoption of a resolution to amend Resolution No. 160574 extending its effective date and the life of the Citizen Committee for Implementing the Strategic Framework and provide an immediate effective date until June 16, 2017.
Explanation
On December 15, 2016, the City Commission adopted the Strategic Plan Framework, a lasting blueprint to guide us towards our best Gainesville, a New American City. Vital to a successful implementation of the strategic plan framework is the continued involvement of citizens and community stakeholders.
On February 2, 2017, the City Commission directed staff to compose a Resolution establishing a Citizen Advisory Committee to assess and prioritize the community’s big ideas to support implementing the Framework.
On February 16, 2017, the City Commission adopted Resolution No. 160574 creating the Citizen Committee for Implementing the Strategic Framework. The committee consists of 14 citizen members appointed by the City Commission and throughout the past 60 days have diligently participated in seven staff-facilitated workshops.
The Committee requests more time to develop enhanced depth and refinement to their big ideas and to further incorporate feedback from the City Commission prior to delivering final recommendations.
