Reallocate Federal Forfeiture Funds from the Mounted Unit Account to the Joint Aviation Account (NB)
This is a request for City Commission approval to reallocate a portion of Federal Forfeiture Funds.
Explanation
The GPD Mounted Unit was dissolved and is not currently using any funding. We have completed repairs to the GPD helicopter including carbon fiber liner for the compressor in our helicopter, a re-wiring and the LYNX 9000 system added that will be a requirement for the aircraft from the FAA. Additional funds are needed in the aviation account.
Fiscal Note
This is a permissible use of Federal Forfeiture. Funding in the amount of $60,000 is available from the Federal Law Enforcement Contraband Forfeiture Trust Fund account under the Mounted Unit. The Chief Law Enforcement Officer must approve the transfer and must ensure the recipient is a qualified entity.
Recommendation:
The City Commission approve the reallocation of $60,000 of Federal Forfeiture Funds currently budgeted for the GPD Mounted Unit to the Joint Aviation.
