Explanation
At their joint meeting on July 18, 2017, the UAB and the City Commission discussed the issue of governance and the need to have an alternative to the Clemons Bill that will be on the ballot in November 2018. The two bodies voted to schedule a joint workshop in September to discuss the issue further, including a look at the UAB ordinance to see if there is a possibility for giving the Board expanded powers and to also better define the Board's duties and relationship to the City Commission. The UAB chair wants to discuss the outcome of that meeting in preparation for a joint workshop.
Recommendation:
Discuss the outcome of the discussion with the City Commission in the joint meeting of July 18, 2017 and prepare for the joint workshop to be held in September 2017.
