Discussion of Referendum Lawsuit (B)
Explanation
On May 11, 2018, a group of citizens filed a lawsuit againt the City of Gainesville and the Supervisor of Elections seeking declaratory judgment to declare Chapter 2017-200, Laws of Florida, unconstitutional in whole or in part and to require the Supervisor of Elections to remove the referendum from the ballot. During their regular meeting on May 17, 2018, the City Commission discussed the lawsuit when considering Item #170808, Subcomittee to Study Utility Advisory Board Code Provisions. A UAB member who was in attendance at this meeting requested that the lawsuit be discussed by the full board.

The Board discuss the lawsuit filed by a group of citizens againt the City of Gainesville and the Supervisor of Elections seeking declaratory judgment to declare Chapter 2017-200, Laws of Florida, unconstitutional in whole or in part and to require the Supervisor of Elections to remove the referendum from the ballot.
