Storm Water off of the GRU Bill (B)

Explanation

GRU bills storm water and refuse service on behalf of General Government to residential customers inside the city limits and storm water service to business customers inside the city limits.  Funds collected for refuse and storm water are transferred to General Government on a monthly basis. 

At their August 16, 2018 regular meeting, the Commission noted that they frequently hear that we should take storm water off the GRU bill.  The Commission wants to know what that would entail and what effect it would have on the overall bill. 

Financial

During FY17, GRU collected and transferred $16.3 Million for Refuse and Storm Water service to General Government.  GRU bills General Government $686,643 for billing services for the year.   

Recommendation

The General Policy Committee discuss storm water billing and provide direction to staff if any action is deemed appropriate.
