Title
University of Florida-City of Gainesville Research Projects - Community Showcase Update (B)
Explanation
In April 2017, more than $300,000 was provided by the University of Florida (UF), UF Health and Gainesville Regional Utilities (GRU) to UF faculty, city experts and community partners to research solutions addressing real-world problems in Gainesville. At that time, UF received 62 proposals from about 40 departments and centers. The proposals covered a broad range of topics, including health and wellness, smart cities, economic development and equity.
On October 9th, the University of Florida, in partnership with the City of Gainesville, hosted a community showcase to recognize the impact of the projects, which have supported implementation of the city and UF’s respective strategic plans. The event highlighted the efforts of seven UF-City of Gainesville research award recipients and discussed the broader community impacts arising from their research.
