Explanation

In September 2018, at the direction of the City Commission, staff engaged a consultant to do a study to determine the feasibility of the City and County providing affordable internet services to customers in GRU's service territory and perhaps including the other municipalities in Alachua County.  In conjunction with the city's efforts, the Utility Advisory Board invited staff from the USDA to give a presentation about their  broadband loan and grant programs to determine if the City may be eligible to participate.
