Joint Meeting Historic Preservation Board and City Commission (B)
Explanation
At the 9/17/20 City Commission meeting, the Commission opted to delay appointment of 5 open Historic Preservation Board seats in order to discuss historic preservation efforts/direction in the City of Gainesville at a special joint meeting with the current board members. The Historic Preservation Board and the City Commission met in April 2019 where the Commission agreed to subsequently allocate an additional 0.5 FTE Planner I position in the FY20 budget to create a full-time historic preservation planner position in the Department of Sustainable Development. The position was filled in April after a successful job search however, the position is now currently vacant. The Historic Preservation Board FY20 annual report is included as backup to this item.
Recommendation
The Commission and the Historic Preservation Board members discuss historic preservation activities within the City.
