Explanation

At several AHAC meetings, the Committee has emphasized the importance of location when evaluating large affordable housing projects. This is particularly relevant for Low Income Housing Tax Credit and State Apartment Incentive Loan projects that need a financial contribution from the City to be viable.

Charlotte, North Carolina has developed a Location Scoring Tool to help that City evaluate potential sites for affordable housing development. Sophia Corugedo, a Fellow in the City Manager’s office has researched this tool. Ms. Corugedo will provide a brief explanation of what it can do, and how it might be adapted to meet the needs of the City of Gainesville.
