An ordinance of the City of Gainesville, Florida, amending the definition of Earnings in Section 2-596 of Chapter 2, Article VII, Division 8 (Consolidated Police Officers and Firefighters Retirement Plan) of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Gainesville; providing directions to the codifier; providing a severability clause; providing a repealing clause; and providing an effective date.
Explanation
This ordinance amends the Consolidated Police Officers and Firefighters Retirement Plan ("Plan") in accord with the collective bargaining process between the City, Professional Firefighters of Gainesville Local No. 2157 of the International Association of Firefighters ("IAFF"), and Fire District Chiefs of the International Association of Firefighters Local No. 2157 ("IAFF-DC"). The changes negotiated with the IAFF and IAFF-DC bargaining units provide that overtime hours worked as part of the normal schedule do not count toward the 300 hours annual maximum on pensionable overtime earnings for firefighters
Fiscal Note
There is no anticipated fiscal impact associated with the proposed change.
Recommendation
The City Commission adopt the proposed Ordinance.
