Explanation

In previous meetings over the years, commissioners have discussed duplication of services across the city government with a focus on how to make our government more efficient and provide better services to our neighbors. Departmental consolidation is a potential solution to this duplication. On October 28th, 2021, the General Policy Committee gave direction for the General Manager and City Manager to come back with information for a discussion of duplicated services or other areas of cooperation with a goal of the Gainesville government working and communicating as one City. On January 27^th, the General Policy Committee heard an update on the progress on the actions taken moving towards “One City” and sharing services.

Recommendation:

The General Policy Committee hear presentations from staff and discuss.
