Title

 Petition HP 21-00064.  Certificate of Appropriateness to install fencing at 502 NE 8^th Avenue, a non-contributing structure in the Northeast Residential Historic District. Larina Hintze, owner.

Explanation

This petition is to request the installation of a 3’ fence on top of an existing 1.5’ border wall that runs along the front and partial sides of the property. This petition requests a 6” variance over what is allowed for an Administrative Approval according to the Historic Preservation Design Guidelines. The property is a non-contributing property within the district and the proposed fence would not negatively impact the structure nor neighboring structures.

Recommendation

Staff recommends approval of the application, providing the 6” fence height variance, as the proposal conforms to the applicable Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation.
